New: Steinholding Competition

Steinholding (also known as Masskrugstemmen) is a sport that has maintained a serious underground following for decades in the U.S. (and even longer in Bavaria), and it has become a year-round event, most notably during the Oktoberfest season. A steinholding match consists of multiple competitors holding identical 1-liter dimpled glass steins full of beer (we will be using water), straight out in front of their bodies with a straight arm for as long as possible. Judges watch the competitors and check their form from different angles and the competitor can be assigned strikes for breach of good form....3 strikes or spillage of liquid or giving up, means you're out. The competitor that maintains good form for the longest is declared the winner. There is a separate competion for males and females. the current men's national record is 21 minutes, 17 seconds and for women it's 5 minutes, 34 seconds. So do you have the strength and stamina to have what it takes to be the last man and woman standing? What's even cooler about this competition, is that the Brew & 'Que is a qualifying venue for competitors to advance to the state championship on October 19th at Bad Dog Brewing Company in Torrington. Registration is per competitor at $20 (to help defray costs of hosting), and you do not have to purchase a GA or VIP ticket into the Brew & 'Que to compete. Should you or your cheering squad (maximum 5 including competitor) decide to enjoy the event after the competition, discounted tickets will be available to you and your group. Brew & 'Que pre-paid attendees and paid walk-ins will be allowed to be spectators for the competition.

Beer Olympics is back this year (appropriately after the real Olympics)

Are you ready to call upon your past beer game talents and compete for bragging rights? Look no further, Main Street Waterbury is hosting beer pong tournaments on the day of the Brew & Que.  Beer Pong teams will be made up of two players for $20 per team.  Advance your group in a bracket style tournament to guarantee eternal glory amongst yourselves and to all those that you brag to! Do you and your teammates have what it takes?! Register now to secure your team a spot before the brackets fill up. General Admission or VIP admission ticket must still be purchased by every eligible player on top of the team registration fee in order to compete. There may even be a cash payout for the best team - it's worth a shot ... actually it's worth a throw!
